Can anyone tell me what a Moon Spoon is?
My fiance and I received an engagement gift from a friend through the post yesterday – the problem is, we’re not sure exactly what it is!! It’s like a little flat edged butterknife with a little moon carved in the handle, made out of cherry wood.
It has a label attached that says “Moon Spoon, Handmade in the USA” and “handwash, and oil as needed”. It’s not actually spoon shaped so it couldn’t be used as one, and the “blade” of the knife isn’t sharp enough to cut anything.
I’m thinking it’s maybe meant to be some sort of lucky charm to mark our engagement but I’m not sure – I don’t want to insult our friend by calling up and saying “it’s lovely, but what is it?!”
Can anyone help us out here?
